Be a Volunteer

A collage of firefighters training, emergency response scenes, and rescue operations.

Today, as always, the department is staffed mainly staff by dedicated volunteers, we have full time administrative staff this in turn is saving Newman Lake taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars each year in wages and benefits. These volunteers are the first to respond when emergencies happen, providing critical care during medical emergencies, structure and wildland fires, vehicle and boating accidents, and natural disasters throughout the Newman Lake area.

Our members come from all walks of life. They are attorneys, educators, physicians, nurses, small business owners, farmers, homemakers, engineers, sales professionals, active-duty and retired military personnel, administrative professionals, retirees, and more. What unites us is not our profession, but our shared commitment to serve, protect, and support our neighbors when it matters most.

Historically, following major incidents such as Firestorm, interest in volunteering surges. Yet as the immediate urgency fades, our ranks often decline—while emergencies continue. The reality is that our community depends on volunteers every single day, not just during times of crisis.

If you have ever felt the desire to give back, learn lifesaving skills, or make a meaningful difference in your community, now is the time. We provide training, mentorship, and the opportunity to be part of a team that truly matters. Your commitment—whether large or small—can directly impact the safety and resilience of Newman Lake.

We need you. Join us, serve your neighbors, and be part of something greater than yourself.
